Beyond the Dye Pots [1]

Posted by Bella McGuire on

I've been blogging for years. Mostly cozy mysteries. I love the written word, reading it, writing it and then reading it some more. I've tried Reels and TikTok and I just can't seem to get comfortable with that medium. So here I am, back to blogging and sharing my thoughts.

Over here, I’ll be sharing some of my dyeing process, my reading and my life in the prairies. If you like hearing more about what’s happening behind the scenes sit back with your favourite drink and enjoy my ramblings!

Today’s a non-dye day and that means lots of warping and lots of re-skeining. I couldn’t do either of these things without my warping mill. A friend made this for me and it has made my life so much easier. Every batch gets warped on here, then dyed, then put back on the warping mill and re-skeined. The coloured thread is a yarn guide. To keep my stripes even I use a different yarn guide for different stripe configurations. The skein shown here will follow a short stripe-long stripe format and will be a colorway called “One in a Melon”!

Yarn ✓ Now onto books… What are you reading? Right now I’m embracing my love of cozy mysteries by re-reading the Magical Bakery Mysteries by Bailey Cates. It has everything I love: murder mystery, cake and magic! If you read cozy mysteries I’d love your recommendations in the comments.

Until next time, keep yarning and keep reading!
